Description
This floor standing radial drilling machine is good value for a workshop needing to drill wide workpieces. In addition, the tilting head allows drilling beyond the vertical.
The drilling width is variable, between 220mm and 420mm. The horizontal movement of the head is controlled by a rack and pinion system. Tilting the head is achieved by undoing a locking knob, setting the required angle against a scale and re-locking the knob. There is a positive locating pin to ensure that the head returns exactly to the vertical.
The AW680RD has a 550W induction motor and a choice of 5 pulleys give a speed range of (5) 460-2,480rpm. It comes with a quality 1-16mm keyless chuck. There is a two part table assembly for greater versatility
In other respects this pillar drill is similar to the standard models, with a true running chuck spindle and a good fit of the quill assembly into the headstock casting to ensure consistent drilling. The drill comes fitted with rubber down feed grips, NVR switch, chuck guard and belt cover safety switch.
Caution: the chuck is located in the quill on a 2MT arbor. If the head is used in the horizontal position together with a sanding drum for example, there is a risk of the chuck coming loose.
Tip: Morse tapers are self locking, wipe off any oil or grease from the arbor and inside the quill.
As this is a floor standing pillar drill, we advise bolting to the floor.
